Following the radically experimental, hallucinatory trip of Dream Hotel (2019), Zeta Zeta returns with their most song- and vocals- driven album since the 2013 release CGTC Noise Pop Shorts. A lighter and more fun side of psychedelic, Blue Wave revisits the themes and tropes of pop music—its verse-chorus-verse structure and its focus on romance—telling stories of love, loss, isolation and escape. With warped pop melodies of hushed, effected voice layered over two old detuned electric organs—a Hammond and an Italian 70's Siel Ritmo—and built in drum machines, it’s an homage to Americana, West Coast Psychedelia, Country and crooners. A playful and humorous exploration of the love song with and an uncanny sense of being nowhere now.
